With juggling so much as a parent, it is very easy for your skin to pay the consequences for it. Dark spots on face can occur due to stress, lack of sleep, and even due to poor diet. If you want to revitalize your skin and get its natural glow back, try these eleven tips to get rid of dark patches.

1. Stay Hydrated
Drinking plenty of water will help your skin cells stay plump and firm. When you are dehydrated, your skin becomes dry, irritable, and more susceptible to discoloration. Dehydration can lead to acne as well. When you have an outbreak, they can leave dark spots once they are heal. To prevent dark spots from happening, do not pick or disturb pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, etc. Let them heal naturally and follow a consistent skin regiments to prevent the form occuring.
2. Use Sunscreen
Although it is great to get out and get some sun, its is important that you protect your skin while doing so. The sun can burn you and cause dark spots on your face if you do not take the proper precautions. Use a good sunscreen to protect your skin during the day. If you are going to be in the water, make sure that your sunscreen is waterproof. Even when it’s cloudy, make sure that you still use sunscreen because there is a chance that you can still get sunburned.

3.Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are a great way to get rid of dark spots on the skin. However, the process can take up to two weeks. A chemical peel works by stripping the way the epidermis, the top layer of skin. Once the top layer of skin is completely gone, the body will generate a new layer. This helps remove discoloration and resurface the skin. You can do a chemical peel at home. 4. Laser Therapy
Laser therapy can help speed up the process of getting rid of dark patches. A dermatologists take a IPL (intense pulse light) laser and goes over your skin evenly. After the procedure, your skin will be red and tender, however, this will subside after a day or two. You may need multiple laser sessions depending on the severity of the dark patches. Laser therapy works by promoting the production of collagen in the skin. When there is an abundance of collagen, it helps promote smooth even toned skin.
5. Turmeric, Lemon Juice, & Yogurt
If you do not want to take an evasive approach to your dark patches, you can make your own face mask that will reduce the discolorations. This is s super easy effective recipe to make and you only need three ingredients. Take some plan yogurt and put it in a bowl. Add a table spoon of turmeric and juice one large lemon. Mix the three ingredients together. Apply to a clean dry face and let sit for 15-20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly. This can be repeated every night. This is a great way to get rid of dark spots on skin if your skin is sensitive or if you are allergic to certain ingredients in products.

6.Dermabrasion/ Micro-needling
Dermabrasion is similar to laser therapy, however, instead of a laser, an abrasive wheel is used to remove the top layer of skin. This procedure can take a few minutes or over an hour depending on what areas are being treated. The same is done with micro-needling. Small sterilized needles are used to remove the epidermis. After dermabrasion, micro-needling, or laser therapy, it is important that you follow the after care instructions correctly. If you don’t, it can cause your skin not to heal properly, contributing to more discoloration.
7. Maintaining a Healthy Diet
What you put in your body is just as important as what you put on it. One of the best ways to combat discoloration of the skin is giving your body the nutrition it needs to prevent or reduce the dark spots from occurring. Eating an assortment of fruits and vegetables will give your body the vitamins and minerals it needs to maintain clear skin. Eat foods such as carrots, leafy greens, apricots, and grapefruits to fight dark patches from the inside.
8. Acids & Creams
There are thousands of different products that you can use to help with dark patches. One of the best acids to use to get rid of dark patches is glycolic acid. Glycolic acid is an exfoliant, restore plumpness to the skin, and promotes a consistent skin tone. MSM is a cream that helps keep the skin smooth. When the skin is smooth, it reduces the appearance of dark spots. MSM is also great if you stay in an extremely hot climate. There are several forms of glycolic and MSM. 9. Reduce Stress

Collagen is a protein that helps your skin keeps its structure. If you do not make enough collagen, it will cause your skin to sag and promote the perfect environment for dark patches.
11. Keep Your Skin Clean
Regularly cleaning your skin will prevent breakouts and in turn, stop dark patches from appearing. When your skin is clean, it minimizes the chances of a pimple ruining your day. When your pores are clean, it can absorb the benefits of your skin regiment better. You should wash your face at least three times a day. After you wash your face, make sure to replenish the moisture you have lost during washing. Adding the moisture back will keep your skin from cracking and prevent dark spots.
