Learning to look after yourself is, in so many ways, an ongoing practice. We all learn how to look after ourselves in little ways, but gradually, as life evolves, we have to adapt our own approaches to self-care. As a parent, one of the most important things that can be fleeting during those first few years is me-time. Gradually, as children get older and learn to speak and argue a lot more, combined with so little sleep, that concept of me-time is one of those rarities. But no matter how little time you think you have, it’s always about the quality, not the quantity. So what are some of the most productive ways to spend your mommy me-time?

Reading

One of the most productive and enjoyable ways to spend your time, regardless of how much you actually read. While we all should read a little bit more, the reality is there’s very little opportunity to do so. But this is where, again, quality time is better. It’s also worth thinking about audiobooks if you are at the point where your eyes are burning by the end of the day. While there are many audiobook streaming sites, you can also find an abundance of audiobook torrenting sites if money is very tight.

Being Creative

While many self-care practices involve some form of mindfulness or meditation, being creative will ensure that you do the same practices as mindfulness—essentially going into yourself and not focusing on the past or the future but being engaged in the present. For those people who hate the idea of sitting still or focusing on a part of their body, being creative can activate the same sensations. If you like knitting, sewing, drawing, or anything that involves a physical interaction with something, you should go for it! It instantly takes you out of those worries that require an abundance of things to-do lists.

Step Outside

Setting a routine for your children will make it easier to put them to bed each night. After your children has gine to bed, take a moment to go outside. Lack of sunlight and being outdoors can be detrimental to your overall health. Sitting in your garden or on your balcony exposes you to some fresh air. Sometimes moms can mistake being overwhelmed with tiredness. Well, there is a massive difference between being exhausted and actually just being a little bit tired. Having a brief interaction with nature such as a brisk workout or a quiet walk can help you take advantage of mommy me- time.

If you are looking for the best ways to spend time with yourself, there are many options out there. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach. It all depending on what you think is the best approach for self-care, you will always find the right solution. Having me- time can be rejuvenating. Making sure that you take advantage of alone time will allow you to mentally reset and be the best mother you can be.
