15 Weeks Pregnancy Symptoms and Baby Development

There are exciting developments happening this week. Your baby’s bones are getting stronger and you should have more energy and increased appetite. Read on to learn more about 15 weeks pregnancy symptoms and baby development.

Baby’s Development During Week 15 of Pregnancy

This week baby is the size of an orange. Facial features are starting to be more prominent. However they still need more time to develop the cute little face you will see when they are born. Nevertheless they are making major progress. Your baby’s eyes and ears are still migrating to their final position on their face and head.

Nevertheless your little one can now hear noises and their eyes are now sensitive to light. Although you may not be able to feel your baby’s kicks and jabs just yet, they are having a ball in your womb. As your baby mature their bones are becoming more ossified, meaning that their bones are becoming hard.

Your Body at 15 Weeks of Pregnancy

15 weeks pregnant is the beginning of the fourth month of pregnancy. As you progress in your pregnancy you should be feeling more like yourself. Morning sickness and achy breasts should be a thing of the past. You should also have more energy as your appetite picks up more this week. Although things are looking up you might starting experiencing new symptoms of pregnancy such as swollen or bleeding gums and nose bleeds.

Your gum might become swollen due to the fact that pregnant women are more susceptible to tooth decay and plaque. It is important that you maintain your dental hygiene during pregnancy. If you are having issues with swollen or bleeding gums, contact your OBGYN and dentist right away. Nose bleeds are also very common in the second trimester.

Your body is working over time circulating blood to your growing baby. That means that the blood vessels in your nose are also getting more blood than usual. This can irritate your nasal passages and cause nose bleeds. It is beneficial to have an extra shirt, tissue, and water on hand when a nose bleed occurs.

On another note your libido may be high during this time. Being intimate is completely fine as long as you have the green light from your doctor and there is no discomfort. However it might be difficult finding a comfortable position with a growing baby bump.
